About the Program
Our Insurance Professional program provides a mix of theoretical and practical training to prepare you for a variety of roles in the insurance field. You’ll gain a strong understanding of insurance concepts, regulations, and policies, as well as business communication, leadership, and technical skills through hands-on exercises and real-world applications.
*One exam voucher for ILS licensing exams is included in the program for each student. As graduates can obtain employment in the field in supporting roles, successfully completing the licensing exam is not a requirement for graduation. It is important to note that licensing is required to gain employment as a certified Insurance Clerk.
This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

Introduction to Technology
This is an entry-level course to introduce students to computers, technology, the internet, and Microsoft Windows. Students will also be introduced to correct keyboarding techniques.
Microsoft Word Foundations
The objective of this module is to introduce students to the basic commands, functions and capabilities of MS Word. It is designed for computer users who are new to word processing.
Microsoft Excel Foundations
The objective of this module is to introduce students to the basic commands, functions and capabilities of MS Excel. It is designed for computer users who are new to word processing.
Microsoft Word Intermediate
The main objective of this course is to introduce students to the intermediate functions and capabilities of MS Word. It is designed for computer users who are familiar and comfortable with Microsoft Word.
Microsoft Excel Intermediate
Students will begin with a quick review of the basic operations of Microsoft Excel, and then move to some of the more advanced functions of Excel.
Business Writing
Learn how to write effectively in a business context, focusing on clarity and professionalism.
Communication Strategy for Business
This course helps students achieve the highest level of professionalism when conducting business. With a clear communication model that helps students professionally analyze and react to any sort of business situation, this course stresses the importance of etiquette in successful entrepreneurial practices.
Diversity in the Workplace
Students learn their perspective and the workplace perspective of diversity. Social and cultural systems are defined with current literature, media, and case studies. Students will be able to differentiate primary and secondary diversity issues as well as define roles and responsibilities in government, laws, corporations, and in policies.
Leadership
Students will learn skills that are important for effective leadership with theories, concepts, research findings, and practices.
Small Business Bookkeeping
Students learn the basic structure of bookkeeping, accounting, and accounting information systems.
Project Management Fundamentals
This course takes a holistic, integrated approach to managing projects, and exploring technical and managerial challenges. It not only emphasizes individual project execution but also provides a strategic perspective, demonstrating the means with which to manage projects in programs and portfolios.

Insurance Specialty
This course is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the insurance industry. The course focuses on providing comprehensive knowledge and understanding of general insurance principles, practices, and regulations. The course covers a wide range of topics, including insurance fundamentals, policy types, underwriting, claims, risk management, and the regulatory environment in Canada. It ensures that students are well-versed in the theoretical and practical aspects of general insurance.
Practicum Placement
Students will work under the direct supervision of an industry mentor. To assist students as they prepare for the transition from post-secondary education to the world of work or, in the case of those re-training for a new career, to introduce students to their new area of employment.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Students are required to be 19 years of age prior to the start of the program or possess a high school diploma (or equivalent), and provide evidence of one of the following English proficiency requirements:
• Completion of grades 9-11, including English 10 with a grade of ‘C’ or higher from a country where English is one of the principal languages, or
• Completion of 2 years of full-time post-secondary education at an accredited institution where English is the language of instruction, or
• Evidence of graduation from a language program with an established pathway/articulation agreement allowing direct entry (no further testing required) to a diploma or degree program at a public institution in Canada, or
• Provide verified results for one of the English language proficiency tests listed below. Test results must be dated no more than two years before the start date of the program:
• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic – Minimum overall score of 5.5
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) IBT – Minimum overall score of 46
• Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) – Minimum overall score of 40
• Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)
• Listening 6, Speaking 6, Reading 5, and Writing 5
• Duolingo English Test (DET) – Minimum overall score of 95
• Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic – Minimum overall score of 43
• Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First exam (FCE) -Minimum overall score of 160 or “C”
• Cambridge Linguaskill – Minimum overall B2 level
• LANGUAGECERT Academic – Minimum overall B2 level
• The Michigan English Test (MET) – Minimum overall B2 level
• iTEP Academic – Minimum overall score of 3.5
