Introduction to Technology
This is an entry-level course to introduce students to computers, technology, the internet, and Microsoft Windows. Students will also be introduced to correct keyboarding techniques.
Microsoft Word Foundations
The objective of this module is to introduce students to the basic commands, functions, and capabilities of MS Word. It is designed for computer users who are new to word processing.
Microsoft Excel Foundations
The objective of this module is to introduce students to the basic commands, functions, and capabilities of MS Excel. It is designed for computer users who are new to word processing.
Microsoft Outlook
This is an entry-level course to introduce students to Microsoft Outlook, including email, calendar, and customizing functions.
Microsoft Word Intermediate
The main objective of this course is to introduce students to the intermediate functions and capabilities of MS Word. It is designed for computer users who are familiar and comfortable with Microsoft Word.
Microsoft Excel Intermediate
Students will begin with a quick review of the basic operations of Microsoft Excel, and then move to some of the more advanced functions of Excel.
Unit Clerk and Hospital Administrative Skills
This course works through specific tasks needed to work in a hospital setting as a unit clerk or in other admin roles such as in the admitting department.
Business Writing
Business Communication Essentials integrated learning system helps you develop your communication skills so you will be prepared for the workplace. The features of the text will help you learn and apply the communication skills needed for a successful career.
Communication Strategy for Business
This course helps students achieve the highest level of professionalism when conducting business. With a clear communication model that helps students professionally analyze and react to any sort of business situation, this course stresses the importance of etiquette in successful entrepreneurial practices.
Healthcare Office Procedures, Medical Transcription & Typing Skills, Medical Billing Terminology
Healthcare Office Procedures: Students will be introduced to the practical duties of the Healthcare Office Assistant, including an understanding of the teamwork structure within the healthcare industry.
Medical Transcription & Typing Skills: This module instructs the students on how to transcribe samples of different medical reports and letters produced and dictated by physicians. Students learn the standard formats for each report and take responsibility for transcribing the content of the tapes provided.
Medical Billing Terminology: This module provides instruction in the Medical Services Plan (MSP), WCB, and ICBC (the insurers that provide physicians with their fees). The Smart Series billing program is used. The principles are easily transferred to other billing programs that the office assistant may encounter in the healthcare office.

Understand the common medical words used by doctors and nurses so you can communicate and keep records accurately.
Dental Terminology Treatment Planning & Estimates
Students are introduced to structures of the oral cavity, their function, types of occlusion, tooth numbering methods, and a variety of dental administrative functions including treatment planning and dental scheduling.
Human Resources Management
Designed for persons interested in management and/or supervision. It develops an understanding of significant human resource management processes and systems utilized in today’s business and government organizations. Employment-related legislation and current human resource management issues are surveyed. Topics cover human resource management processes with some emphasis on the practical application of the techniques studied.

Prepare yourself for job hunting with tips on writing resumes, preparing for interviews, and finding jobs in healthcare.
Certs First Aid & CPR and WHMIS Training
This course will provide opportunities for industry certificate workshops like Industry Certifications – First Aid & CPR, and WHMIS.
Practicum Placement
Use what you’ve learned in a real healthcare setting to gain hands-on experience and make professional connections.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Students are required to be 19 years of age prior to the start of the program or possess a high school diploma (or equivalent), and provide evidence of one of the following English proficiency requirements:
• Completion of grades 9-11, including English 10 with a grade of ‘C’ or higher from a country where English is one of the principal languages, or
• Completion of 2 years of full-time post-secondary education at an accredited institution where English is the language of instruction, or
• Evidence of graduation from a language program with an established pathway/articulation agreement allowing direct entry (no further testing required) to a diploma or degree program at a public institution in Canada, or
• Provide verified results for one of the English language proficiency tests listed below. Test results must be dated no more than two years before the start date of the program:
• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic – Minimum overall score of 5.5
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) IBT – Minimum overall score of 46
• Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) – Minimum overall score of 40
• Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)
• Listening 6, Speaking 6, Reading 5, and Writing 5
• Duolingo English Test (DET) – Minimum overall score of 95
• Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic – Minimum overall score of 43
• Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First exam (FCE) -Minimum overall score of 160 or “C”
• Cambridge Linguaskill – Minimum overall B2 level
• LANGUAGECERT Academic – Minimum overall B2 level
• The Michigan English Test (MET) – Minimum overall B2 level
